Regular eye exams are vital to maintaining your vision and overall health. Here at Chandlers we offer the optomap and OCT images as an important part of our eye exams.

Optomap & OCT

The optomap produces an image that is unique and provides us with a high resolution 200 degree image in order to ascertain the health of your retina. This is much wider than the traditional view of 45 degrees.

The OCT gives a detailed scan through the layers of the retina – which of course can’t be seen any other way.

Many eye problems can develop without any symptoms; indeed you may not even notice a change in your sight. Fortunately, diseases or damage such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, and other health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be seen with a thorough examination of the retina.

The inclusion of the scans as part of our comprehensive eye exam provides:

  • Images to show a healthy eye or detect disease.
  • A view of the retina, giving us a more comprehensive view than can be seen by other means.
  • The opportunity for you to view and discuss the images with the optometrist.
  • A permanent record for your file, so we are able to map any changes.
